Overview

The Resource Mobilization Officer will be a member of the Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI) Malawi Operations Team, reporting to our Human Resources and Administration Manager. The Operations Team is responsible for supporting CHAI Malawi’s logistics, operations, finance, fundraising, and human resources.

The goal of the Resource Mobilization Officer role is to support the office’s fundraising team in its efforts to pursue donor opportunities from foundations, corporations, governments, and multilaterals. The fundraising role includes supporting the office’s fundraising team in donor relationships, developing highly detailed and strategic grant proposals, liaising with relevant CHAI teams in the development of proposals, and producing relevant communications materials as needed.

Responsibilities

Coordinate activities of the Malawi office fundraising team, and liaise with relevant CHAI global teams
Work with country team to engage and cultivate prospective donors and opportunities
Develop a grants calendar to track fundraising opportunities and ensure a well-planned and coordinated response to RFPs
Work with the fundraising team to write persuasive proposals to prospective funders clearly articulating CHAI\’s objectives; identify and synthesize donor objectives through a variety of sources and methods
To varying degrees, coordinate and support creation of concept notes, proposals and reports; work with relevant program teams to ensure timely submissions
Work with the country team in the development of the CHAI Malawi fundraising strategy

Skills & Experience

Items indicated with an asterisk (*) are required

Bachelor’s degree*
Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, management, business or public administration, or related fields
Demonstrated experience with proposal writing and/or institutional fundraising*
Experience writing, editing, and verbally communicating about complex grant requirements and documentation*
Excellent organizational skills, including ability to work on complex projects from creation to completion, and planning and prioritizing multiple projects*
Demonstrated experience coordinating teams to meet fixed deadlines*
Ability to multi-task, work in a fast-paced environment, and deliver measureable results*
Adept interpersonal skills*
Minimum of three years of relevant experience with proposal writing experience and/or institutional fundraising
Experience working with institutional and private donors
