Review and Translation Associate
- Where to Apply
Kiva (www.kiva.org) is a mission driven technology company. We run a global marketplace platform for crowd-funded micro-loans to serve the financially excluded. Kiva combines the culture and approach of an internet start-up with a mission to alleviate poverty. We aim to drive social impact and enable opportunity while providing a borrower-to-lender connection: “Loans that change lives”
In just 10 years, Kiva has raised over $700 million in loan capital for more than 1.6 million borrowers in over 85 countries. Kiva’s lenders fund over $10 million in loans every month. Kiva is poised to take its initial success to a whole new level – targeting $1 billion in loans by 2017 and continuing our expansion into new areas such as local lending in the US, student loans, water, clean energy.
Headquartered in San Francisco, Kiva\\’s team has 100+ employees and 500+ volunteers worldwide.
Kiva’s Review and Translation Program leverages the power of 400+ volunteers to edit, translate, and review loan descriptions that come in from the field before they are published on the Kiva website. Using a self-assignment platform created and maintained by Kiva, these global volunteers handle upwards of 14,000 loan descriptions every month. Supporting the volunteers, maintaining Kiva’s loan review guidelines, and continuing to scale the program as Kiva grows are the challenges of the Review and Translation Program staff. Now is an exciting time to join the program, as we are planning to release cool new tools to better support our volunteers.
