+Acumen is seeking a digital mastermind to develop and implement online marketing strategy for the world’s school for social change; this is an exciting opportunity for someone with at least 5-8 years of relevant experience and a passion for tackling global poverty.
Our +Acumen team is building the world’s school for social change – a global learning community for social change-makers. +Acumen is a new initiative started in 2013 with the vision of equipping thousands of passionate people with the tools, insights and community to step up and create change. We do this in two ways:
+ We offer free and low-cost online courses that help to democratize access to the best tools to change systems which keep people entrenched in poverty
+ We find the “best” people and connect them to Acumen & each other at scale
To date +Acumen has reached 300,000 people from 190 countries through its courses. +Acumen also manages various in-person networks – such as chapters, alumni, and course volunteers – that allow our broader course community to get more involved in supporting Acumen and each other.
Where You Come In
Your mission, should you choose to accept, is to take +Acumen’s online and digital marketing presence to the next level. Over the next three years we seek to get on the path to financial sustainability and to fulfill our goal of enabling millions to become more active and effective at tackling problems of poverty.
You will be responsible for +Acumen’s online voice and presence: writing, maintaining and continuously improving the quality of brand-relevant content across all our digital channels, including our website, blogs, email marketing, and social media platforms. You will help drive our digital marketing strategy while improving the quality and diversity of our content, monitoring engagement and performance using various analytic tools, and constantly iterating to drive success as measured by growth and conversions. Expert copywriting and editorial skills are a must. Reports to the Director of +Acumen.
Success in this role will be defined by your ability to think strategically, synthesize complex information about +Acumen’s work, and apply your digital marketing expertise to reach the audience that we seek to engage.

Numbers are your friend and you can tell a story with data to help the team make better decisions.
+ 5-8 years of experience in a similar role (digital, content strategy, online marketing); 8-10 years of experience overall
+ Native “digital thinker” with a proven track record of developing and executing a variety of content across social media and online platforms, including text, photo, graphics, and video
+ Social media expert with knowledge of best practices and experience and absolute comfort using content management systems
+ Understanding of how to create SEO-friendly content
+ Skilled with Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, MailChimp, SplashThat or other email marketing platform; basic HTML and video editing experience is a plus
+ Experience using one or more of the following tools: Google Analytics, Radian6, Sprout Social, Hootsuite, Salesforce Marketing Cloud.
+ Demonstrated comprehension of managing or growing a newsletter
+ Exceptional listener and communicator—written, oral and visual—with a high attention to detail
+ Critical thinker accustomed to working, problem solving and collaborating thoughtfully in a fast-paced environment
+ Ability to collaborate effectively with different colleagues and personalities, at all levels both externally and internally, and across a variety of functions and geographies
