Umati Capital is hiring Strategic Management Fellows in Nairobi, Kenya!

Umati Capital is a start-up financial services company that aims to revolutionize access to finance through the consistent and innovative use of technology.
Launched in September 2012, we aim to accelerate the growth of SMEs with our financing and technology solution and linkages to our partner network.
We are currently focused within agri-business supply chains, retailer value chains and fast moving consumer goods manufacturers. We leverage proprietary technology to provide branchless financial services to small scale suppliers, trading companies and industrial processors.

Position Overview
The Strategic Management Fellow will be based in Nairobi, Kenya and work closely with Umati Capital management working on key strategic initiatives across business units, depending on individual interests. The Strategic Management Fellow will be instrumental in leading projects to support our scaling efforts especially on business development, sales, and operations.
Sample projects can include refining our marketing and sales strategy based on customer and market research, leading and writing grant proposals with various partners across sectors, and conducting operational improvement assessments and implementing quick wins.

Fellowship Responsibilities
Conduct thorough analysis on key strategic opportunities by coordinating with internal staff and external stakeholders, conducting third-party research, or both
Propose recommendations to management and define implementation strategy with workplan
Lead execution for all or parts of workplan depending on availability
Support other internal initiatives per interest and availability

Required Skills and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or similar degree, plus around 3 years of professional experience
Strong interpersonal skills, strong analytical and critical thinking skills
Ability to multi-task, manage multiple priorities, and work well under pressure
Self-starter, takes independent initiative and ability to work independently with broad direction and guidance
Experience managing or working on cross-cultural and/or cross-functional teams
Strong qualitative and/or quantitative research skills
Results-oriented and accountable with strong attention to detail
Demonstrated excellent writing and communication skills
Some project management experience
