STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIPS SENIOR ASSOCIATE
Acumen is looking for someone to join our Strategic Partnerships team in New York that is passionate about building partnerships for impact, and brings a focus, drive, and instinct for relationship management and partnership building that can help this team soar to new heights. We’re looking for someone with 3-5 years’ experience in project management, relationship or account management, and/or fundraising or investor relations; someone who has exceptional energy, excellent relationship management skills, a hunger to bring in new partners, an ability to deal with complexity, and a commitment to addressing global poverty.

These relationships are multi-faceted and long-term, and yield a variety of outcomes for Acumen, including funds, support for portfolio companies, and opportunity to shift “business as usual” corporate practices.
About the role
You are a charismatic communicator, a thinker and a doer who naturally builds relationships that lead to results. You will be responsible for managing donor relationships and developing new relationships with corporate partners, often in collaboration with other functions at Acumen. We have a small and energetic team, and this is a roll-up-your-sleeves kind of role. We want someone who is creative, a problem solver, and who knows how to move ideas forward, both internally and externally.

In this role you will be a key driver of our Strategic Partnership activities, supporting, cultivating, and eventually closing your own relationships with corporations, corporate foundations, as well as supporting other senior Acumen leaders in doing the same. The role will require creativity in seeking out new relationships, skill in developing meaningful partnerships, and a willingness to collaborate across multiple functions and geographies to hit global fundraising targets and position Acumen as a leader in this space. Specifically, you will:
+ Support the overall Strategic Partnerships strategy, which includes objectives for raising funds, linking corporations to social enterprises, and influencing business practices.
+ Work with the Chief Partnership Officer and other team members to develop proposals and attend pitch meetings.
+ Work with our team globally across the US, Europe, East and West Africa, Latin America and South Asia to develop a funding pipeline and support our best practices for developing corporate partnerships.
+ Independently identify and develop new corporate partnerships for Acumen, in collaboration with other functions as needed.
+ Help manage internal processes related to partner evaluation, internal communication, support for account managers, and tracking metrics around our corporate partnerships.
Qualifications & Characteristics
+ Minimum of 5 years’ experience
+ Demonstrated success in project management and donor or client management is required; experience working in developing economies or the impact investing sector preferred
+ Exceptional relationship management and interpersonal skills: a strong listener who demonstrates patience, tact, and authenticity
+ Strong storyteller who consistently communicates (oral, written) in a compelling manner; comfort with public speaking opportunities to inform and advocate Acumen\’s approach and mission
+ Solid operational skills including problem solving and project management skills; ability to work and deliver projects independently, proactively, and under pressure
+ Intellectually curious, with an ability to understand the nuances of a complex sector and how to position Acumen within it; strong understanding of financial concepts and Acumen’s investing model
+ Ability to effectively collaborate with and across a global team, proven capacity to work across cultural lines; and the ability to operate independently in complex situations
+ Bachelor\’s Degree is required, Masters preferred
+ Work authorization in the United States
