mPharma is looking for a detailed orientated and highly skilled supply chain professional with exceptional high work standards to support our supply chain and procurement function. As our provider network expands, our procurement and supply chain operations are becoming more complex. As Supply Chain Associate, you will work with our Global Operations and Supply Chain team to design and implement and manage the supply chain and procurement process for Zambia.
At mPharma, we start and end our day thinking about how we can enable patients to afford their medications. We are a small but growing team of 40+ members, headquartered in Accra, Ghana, backed by mission driven funders. We’ve joined hands with third party payers, drug manufacturers, and healthcare providers to develop products and services that directly reduce the costs of prescription drugs for patients. In only a few months, we’ve managed to provide low-cost, high-quality medicines to tens of thousands of patients across three African countries (Ghana, Nigeria, Zambia).
This position is part of the Global Health Corps fellowship. Global Health Corps (GHC) is a leadership development organization focused on building the next generation of diverse, disruptive global health leaders. Founded in 2009, we competitively recruit talented professionals (ages 21-30) from a range of sectors and backgrounds and place them in high-impact roles within partner organizations — including Clinton Health Access Initiative, Partners in Health, Planned Parenthood Global, and Government Ministries in Zambia, Rwanda, and Uganda — working on the front lines of health equity in Malawi, Rwanda, Uganda, the US, and Zambia.
Design and implement procurement and supply chain processes to ensure appropriate stock levels at our warehouse
Coordinate and communicate with the pharma resident representatives
Identify procurement opportunities across suppliers with that will create savings across all operational and financial metrics and KPIs
Design and work with the Operations Team to implement exemplary levels of purchasing standard operating procedures (SOPs), approvals, and governance for the procurement arm
Contribute to product requirements in the development and implementation of our inventory management and supply chain system
Develop a strategic sourcing plan and market outlook to ensure the organization has plans to deal with long term threats and take advantage of long term opportunities
Skills and Experience
Items indicated with an asterisk (*) are required:
Preferred: Bachelor’s or master’s degree in supply chain management, logistics, procurement, business, administration, accounting, and/or finance
Two+ years of professional experience in supply chain and/or procurement*
Strong quantitative analysis and/or budget management skills*
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel*
Experience with procurement of consumer goods, especially pharmaceuticals or other fast-moving consumer goods
Experience using specialized software for supply chain management
Demonstrated project/program management experience
An entrepreneurial spirit with a passion for mPharma\’s mission to increase the accessibility and affordability of high-quality medicines
Familiarity with process (re)design
Strong interpersonal skills to network with new people and develop business relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders
The ability to be based in Lusaka with probability of local travel when required
A self-starter who can work independently and improve procurement and supply chain in a growing ambitious business.
