About finEQUITY.org:
finEQUITY is a community-sourced financial technology organization. We are a nonprofit with a mission to build a digital road from prison to financial prosperity. In doing that work, we advance the financial futures of families impacted by mass incarceration. Our first product, not our last: an innovative way for recently released community members to establish a healthy credit score so that they can access affordable housing, phones, utilities, cars, and more. Our loan program, which was piloted in New York in 2021, is set to expand in 2022-2023 to 14 states. We see ourselves as contributing online tools to fight against the collateral consequences of incarceration and combat both racial and economic inequality. In the future, we will focus on addressing barriers to employment and families managing criminal justice debt. For more information, please visit https://www.finequity.org/our-team.

You will:
Finalize a phased user research agenda based on our list of preferred areas of exploration with our primary demographics: heads of households directly impacted by the prison crisis. This includes areas such as perceptions and costs of financial services, credit building products, costs and experiences related to criminal justice debt, bank garnishments, and housing or transportation barriers.
Utilize appropriate quantitative and qualitative methods to produce tactical, strategic, and actionable insights that inform design and development.
Co-coordinate user study logistics (collaborate with participant recruiters/operations team, schedule interviews and sessions, and supervise distribution of incentives/gift cards)
Work independently to implement research and deliver or contribute to website, SMS, or email copy while also working in collaboration with functional team leads (Marketing lead, Engineering lead, Operations and Membership Engagement lead).
Help define and shape the collaborative design and co-creation practice at finEQUITY.org.

About you (qualifications):
2+ years of relevant work experience in UX, user testing, and/or design research.
Work experience or equivalent in UX copywriting.
Track record of deploying different strategies based on objectives.
Self-driven and have previously taken the initiative to bolster and implement research.
Proven experience in crafting and synthesizing research to be read by a broad, non-technical audience and non-designers.
Proven ability to work confidently and creatively on ambiguous problems and ability to use analogous inspiration as a tactic.
Proven experience interviewing remotely; you have excellent project management, group and individual meeting facilitation skills
Proven experience interviewing and rapport building with community members who may live in more under-resourced or under-served communities.
Your special sauce: We recognize not everyone will have all of these requirements. If you meet most of the criteria above and have a history of expanding your skillset, please still apply.
Evidence of commitment to our mission and vision.
