The Youth Health Services Officer will work with the Youth and Adolescent Health Advisor to establish youth-friendly services at supported health facilities. The Youth Health Services Officer will also be tasked with ensuring the smooth transition of adolescents and youth receiving care and treatment services at the facilities by supporting their adherence to medications and clinic visits. The Officer will facilitate the development of personal, social, and educational growth skills amongst adolescents and young people to help them reach their full potential in society.

Facilitate the formation of peer support groups in the health facilities with a high number of adolescents and young people enrolled
Work with the rest of the program and health facility teams to identify areas for linking adolescent and youth to opportunities for skill-building and income-generation activities
Mentor, coach, and support individual adolescents and youth on personal, social, and educational growth and encourage greater social inclusion
Support and run arts-based activities, outdoor education, and sporting activities as part of the overall establishment of the youth and adolescent-friendly services

Implementation oversight: planning and monitoring
Conduct assessment to identify the needs of adolescents and young people, and support staff at sites in the delivery of adolescent and youth-focused services
Prepare monthly and quarterly plans for provision of activities for adolescents and youth at the supported sites
In close collaboration with the M&E Team, develop tools that are necessary for tracking progress and issues related to implementation of activity plans
Conduct regular site visits for technical support and implementation progress review at sites

Documentation and reporting
Document and share lessons learned and best practices related to project implementation

Skills & Experience

Items indicated with an asterisk (*) are required

Bachelor’s degree*
Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in social science, social work, nursing, public health, or other related field; Additional training at the post-graduate level in management of reproductive health programs
Demonstrated experience with youth programming, education, and/or counseling*
Knowledge of adolescent sexual reproductive health policies and strategies*
Experience with researching, writing, and/or facilitating training with adolescents*
Experience conducting basic M&E in order to improve program efficacy*
In-depth knowledge and understanding of adolescents and youth
Ability to support adolescents and youth in various settings, including outreach work
Experience in counseling and supporting youth, adolescents, and their families
Report writing experience
Excellent inter-personal skills
Desire to work with youth populations on key health and life skills
