Acceso is revolutionizing food systems to put smallholder farmers and food system workers first. Our vision is a world where smallholder farmers are empowered with long-term opportunities and market access that enable them to live healthy, dignified, and prosperous lives. A world where local food systems are equitable and work in favor of small producers, not against them. A world where all workers in food systems are paid fairly. Acceso works “from seed to market” across supply chains to boost local food security and provide holistic services to farmers: in-person and digital technical assistance, targeted inputs, crop purchase at fair prices, aggregation and processing, logistics, and guaranteed market linkages with quality buyers.
Acceso built and currently manages three social agribusinesses in Colombia, El Salvador, and Haiti that have impacted 15,000 farmers and farm workers and generated +$60 million in farmer revenues. Our goal is to scale our model to reach 100,000 farmers by 2025. Acceso’s current priority growth areas include supporting the digitalization of smallholder agriculture through agtech (Extensio); sustainably scaling locally-sourced feeding programs through which we’ve supported the feeding of +10M meals for Venezuelan refugees, communities hit by the Haiti earthquake, and others; leveraging our model in El Salvador to stabilize communities and provide a viable alternative to migration; expanding into high-value exports, and growing our market-linked reforestation work through which we’ve planted +1.7M seedlings.
