Unreasonable Institute Finalists Emerge
The 2011 Unreasonable Institute, an intensive six-week mentorship program that seeks to accelerate budding ventures serving the base of the pyramid consumers, fielded applications from 300 entrepreneurs who hoped to attend. The first test was competing with other applicants to raise $8,000 in tuition fees, while rallying support for their mission.

Technology for the People: Notes from the ONE Africa Symposium
The first-ever ONE Africa Symposium in Johannesburg, South Africa was designed to highlight novel technology and innovations unleashing Africa’s economic potential and promoting sustainable development. The 300 attendees were a cross-section of innovators, policymakers, students and academics. Two innovators: Sproxil and Transparent Aid, stood out.

MIT Global Challenge, Connecting Ideas and Innovators
In 2008, the MIT Public Service Center asked: ’What would it look like if we applied that level of problem-solving to the challenges faced by under-served communities, places where markets are failing to provide basic necessities like clean water, health care, or reliable energy?’ The result is the MIT Global Challenge.
