‘Explore cocoa potential,’ ICCO urges manufacturers

Thursday, May 24, 2012

The International Cocoa Coordination Organisation (ICCO), on Wednesday, urged Nigerian manufacturers to explore the potential of cocoa, so as to produce more cocoa-based goods.

The ICCO Project Coordinator, Yunusa Abubakar, said this would improve the fortune of cocoa farmers in the country.

He added that there was need for researchers to do more in the area of cocoa products that could be adaptable to the tropics, as most cocoa products could not be stored for a long time in the region.

According to Abubakar, although mostly produced in West Africa, cocoa is widely consumed in Europe and America.
