Global Health Unit Impact Fund

In Africa, few primary care facilities within easy reach of rural and peri-urban communities can offer early diagnosis and affordable treatment.

We want to change that.

Villgro Africa and the Sanofi Global Health Unit Impact Fund are looking for established businesses operating in Uganda, Zambia and Mozambique only that are expanding access to high-quality, affordable healthcare for communities at scale.

Focus areas

We are looking for companies working in one of three areas.

1. Digital health supply chain: Technology-enabled solutions that get pharmacies and clinics the medicines and health products they need.

2. Early detection and diagnostics: Solutions that enable earlier and more accessible detection of non-communicable diseases (NCDs)

3. Phygital primary care delivery: Companies that combine physical care delivery points with digital tools to provide affordable, high-quality primary care to rural and peri-urban communities.

What selected companies receive

  • A review of your businesses by Villgro Africa, whose team has deep experience in preparing companies in the health space for investment.
  • A chance to pitch your business to the Sanofi Global Health Unit Impact Fund team in early 2027.

Who should apply:

Your company must meet the following criteria:

  • It is registered and operating in Uganda, Zambia or Mozambique.
  • It already has a product or service in the market, and most of its revenue comes from paying customers. Government or donor funding can be part of its revenue but cannot be the main source.
  • Its annual revenue is at or approaching US$500,000, with evidence of commercial traction and a proven ability to generate recurring revenue.
  • It serves customers in rural, peri-urban or low-income communities.
  • It has a local, full-time leadership team.

Who should not apply:

  • Traditional clinics, hospitals and pharmacies where tech is not part of primary care delivery.
  • Software-only companies, such as standalone telehealth or wellness apps, and electronic medical record (EMR), electronic health record (EHR) and health management software.
  • Health financing products, including traditional health financing solutions.
  • Subsidy-dependent models.
  • E-pharmacies outside care delivery, such as wholesale B2B.
  • Biotech and life sciences companies.
  • Premium urban and specialty facilities, like dental, mental or sexual health.
  • Models serving only one patient group, such as the elderly or mothers and children.
