About the job
Job Responsibilities
- Develop and implement strategic sales plans to achieve annual sales targets, market share goals, and revenue objectives in the assigned territories (Ghana, Liberia, Sierra Leone), focusing on PV products including modules, inverters, storage systems, and customized PV solutions (on-grid, off-grid, and hybrid systems).
- Lead end-to-end sales activities, including market research, customer development, lead generation, proposal preparation, contract negotiation, and order closure, targeting key customer groups such as distributors, installers, EPC contractors, industrial and commercial enterprises, government agencies, and project developers.
- Build and maintain long-term, trusting relationships with existing and potential customers, understand their needs and pain points, and provide professional PV solutions to meet their specific requirements, such as off-grid systems for remote areas and hybrid solar-diesel systems adaptable to local climate conditions.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activities, policy changes, and industry dynamics in the three territories, including regional trade agreements (e.g., ECOWAS Trade Liberalization Scheme – ETLs), local certification requirements (e.g., Ghana GSA certification), and government renewable energy incentives, and provide timely market insights and strategic recommendations to the regional management team.
- Collaborate closely with the technical, marketing, and supply chain teams to ensure smooth delivery of products and solutions, provide technical support to customers, and resolve any post-sales issues to maintain high customer satisfaction and brand reputation.
- Organize and participate in industry exhibitions, seminars, and promotional activities in the region to enhance brand visibility and expand market influence, leveraging opportunities in the growing West African PV market projected to require significant new power generation capacity by 2030.
- Manage and optimize the sales pipeline, track sales progress, and submit regular sales reports (weekly, monthly, quarterly) to the regional management team, ensuring transparency and accountability in sales operations.
- Comply with the company’s policies, ethical standards, and local laws and regulations in the assigned territories, and ensure all sales activities are conducted in a professional and compliant manner.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or above in Marketing, Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, Business Administration, or a related field; a master’s degree is an advantage.
- Minimum 3-5 years of proven B2B sales experience in the PV or renewable energy industry, with a successful track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets. Experience in selling PV products or solutions in Ghana, Liberia, or Sierra Leone is highly preferred, especially with knowledge of local market characteristics, customer preferences, and project bidding processes.
- In-depth understanding of PV products (modules, inverters, storage systems, etc.), PV system design, and application scenarios (on-grid, off-grid, industrial/commercial, rural electrification), as well as familiarity with international standards (e.g., IEC 61215, IEC 61730) and local certification requirements (e.g., Ghana GSA certification).
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with customers at all levels, including technical teams, procurement departments, and senior management. Fluency in English (written and spoken) is mandatory; proficiency in local languages (e.g., Twi, Krio) is a plus.
- Strong market development and customer acquisition capabilities, with the ability to work independently and proactively in a dynamic and challenging market environment. Familiarity with ECOWAS trade regulations and local partnership requirements is an advantage.
- Willingness to travel frequently within the assigned territories (Ghana, Liberia, Sierra Leone) and adapt to local working conditions, including understanding regional challenges such as grid stability and tropical climate adaptability for PV systems.
- Result-driven, self-motivated, and able to work under pressure, with strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Legal right to work in Ghana, with a valid work permit (if applicable). Familiarity with local business culture, laws, and regulations in the three territories is highly desirable.
- Experience in managing sales teams is a plus, but not mandatory.
