TAI is hiring a skilled and enthusiast Project Manager to implement TAI Livelihood Project in Kakuma

ABOUT TAI
TAI´s mission is to empower people with disability out of poverty and exclusion in Africa.
Based in Kenya, TAI (www.tai.ngo) produces and distributes mobility, productivity, working assistive devices supporting persons with mobility disability in accessing autonomous mobility, self-development, income. Together with local partners, we also support persons with disability with Income & Inclusion Programs.
The Project object of this recruiting is 18-months long, targeting 40 people with disability 18-35 y age, based in Kakuma, combining the provision of assistive devices with access to 6 months professional training (TVET), support to employment, training and coaching in MEs set-up and management, access to business microcredit and microgrants: 6 months Candidate attraction & selection + organization of TVET, 6 months TVET, 6 months support to employment/set up and coaching of MEs. The Project is implemented in collaboration with local (TVET centres, MFIs) and international (Impact measurement NGO)partners.

THE JOB
Reporting to the Program Director, the Project Manager will be responsible for the implementation of a Livelihood Project back-to-back:

Project Planning and Set-up
• initial detailed planning, budgeting, set-up of the Project implementation, with regular updates

Project implementation
• making sure that the Project actions are implemented within the agreed budget and timeline, continuously planning ahead next steps of Project implementation
• making sure that the Project actions are implemented with the agreed level of quality
• making sure that the Project actions lead to the planned outputs
• troubleshooting any issue arising during Project implementation, identify and suggest actions which can improve the project implementation
• regularly seat with the Project Director to plan the next project actions
• regularly seat with the Project Director to provide the required information for the

Project reporting
• participate as instructed in the Project impact measurement

Project Stakeholders relationship
• directly managing the relationship with the beneficiaries, working closely with them and assist them to assure Project success and best Project impact on their lives
• managing the relationship with implementing partners as needed to assure successful Project implementation
• research and reach out for prospect implementing partner which might be instrumental in the successful Project implementation

Keeping track of the Project implementation steps Project and financials
• keeping track and documenting the Project implementation actions and milestones
• keeping track of Project spending against approved budget
• keeping all financial & administrative documentation (receipts, invoices, contracts, bids …) in order
• regularly seat with the Project Director to plan the next spending for the project actions
• regularly seat with the Project Director to provide all the required administrative and financial information for the Project reporting

Work in in collaboration, support and coordinate with the other Project staff
• make sure the implementation of the different Project segments is integrated and coordinated for the success of the Project as a whole.

Further Program Development
• Identify opportunities for Project extensions (joint grant applications, Project synergies, Project replication, etc). Initiate, develop, manage relationship with potential partners for such opportunities
• Identify opportunities for other Projects related to disability, inclusion, poverty alleviation that can be developed and implemented by TAI. Initiate, develop, manage relationship with potential partners for such opportunities

General
• Support and collaborate as required with TAI staff in Kakuma and Kenya for the success of TAI as a whole

THE JOB QUALIFICATIONS
• you have 3 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in the NGO/disability, youth, poverty alleviation
• you have a bachelor degree in a relevant subject
• you are highly motivated in supporting low income people with disabilities in improving their life, and in fighting poverty and exclusion
• you speak fluent English. Kiswahili and other local dialects will be a plus
• you have a good understanding of the context in Kakuma
• you like to, and have some experience in, working in very close contact with the Project beneficiaries, you are a good listener, patient and firm as necessary, leading them in their participation to the Project as necessary
• once you have strategic/planning directions, you have the spirit and the skills to bring implementation from A to Z, under the guidance/with the help of the Program director. You need the Program director to coach you, not to check your work
• you are super self-driven and autonomous in your work, you think of your Project as ´your business´ which you are fully responsible for
• you are very focused on your goals, very driven in implementing the actions leading to them, and very creative on overcoming any obstacle to the actions leading to them
• you frame your work in terms of objectives and results, you thrive in a star-up, dynamic environment
• you are flexible, you do what is needed for the Project success, this is not a 9 to 5 job
• you bring a lot of stamina and enthusiasm in the role
• you like to, and have experience in, working in a team for achieving a common objective, coordinating, sharing and supporting each other
