Main goal of the role
Are you a results-driven finance professional with a passion for investing with impact and innovative finance? Aqua for All’s dynamic and growing team is looking for a Senior Impact Finance Manager! This position offers a unique opportunity to play a central role in scaling Aqua for All’s investment strategy and blended finance portfolio.
We’re looking for a proactive and analytical collaborator to execute transactions and manage partnerships with fund managers that make a real difference.
In this role, you will translate Aqua for All’s mission into concrete solutions. You’ll originate and structure fund investments, blended finance transactions and manage a diverse portfolio of partnerships to mobilise private capital in the water and sanitation sector. You’ll empower team members, by sharing your in-depth transaction expertise, particularly in analysing fund models and in negotiations with General Partners.
You will be based in The Hague, working closely with our international teams in Kenya, Ethiopia and beyond. You will report to our Lead Impact Finance and Fund Investments.
If you’re ready to contribute to transformative change in the water sector while making a lasting social and environmental impact, we’d like to hear from you!
What you’ll do
- Structure and execute transactions using risk capital (concessional and equity) to achieve sustainable outcomes with private funds and financial institutions.
- Conduct strategic negotiations with international partners with the aim of acquiring mandates focused on fund investments and blended finance.
- Co-lead the evaluation and selection of fund managers that align with Aqua for All’s strategy, ensuring funds contribute to SDG 6 – water and sanitation for all.
- Conduct due diligence with sector experts, legal and investment advisors, and prepare memos for internal committees, detailing investment proposals and expected outcomes.
- Manage a portfolio of catalytic investments, continuously assessing their financial and social performance and ensuring alignment with Aqua for All’s objectives.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including investors, fund managers, financial institutions and guarantee providers to attract capital for water and sanitation initiatives.
- Represent Aqua for All at key industry events, conferences and forums, raising the profile of the foundation and engaging with potential partners and funders.
- Collaborate across teams to ensure financial strategies align with programmatic goals, including proposal development, reporting and monitoring.
- Contribute to Aqua for All’s thought leadership by driving new proposals, enhancing the foundation’s impact finance proposition, and engaging with the wider impact investment community.
What we are looking for
- Significant professional experience of 5+ years in impact investing, sustainable finance, private equity or fund investing, with a focus on generating social and environmental impact.
- An academic background in finance, economics, or a related field, complemented by relevant professional qualifications.
- Proven experience in managing and structuring complex financial transactions in the impact or development finance space.
- Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to evaluate and assess complex investment opportunities.
- Outstanding communication skills, with the ability to present and explain financial models and impact outcomes to diverse stakeholders.
- Experience working in or focusing on low- and middle-income countries, particularly in Sub-Saharan Africa, MENA or South Asia.
- Proficiency in financial instruments, transaction structuring, and the ability to manage multiple high-stakes projects simultaneously.
- A proactive and entrepreneurial mindset, eager to drive innovative financial solutions and contribute to the growth of Aqua for All’s impact.
