Airtel Tanzania Launches Free Mobile Money Transfer Service

The new offer dubbed “Okoa Mapene” a Swahili for”save pennies,” is aimed at enhancing mobile financial inclusion as well as to offer Airtel customers affordability and flexibility in their day to day money transactions.

“We are again demonstrating our commitment to provide flexibility and affordability in our Airtel Money services, Airtel Public Relations Manager, Mr Jackson Mmbando said at the launching event in Dar es Salaam on Wednesday.

He said Airtel Money customers would get the opportunity and the benefit to save money and spend less while sending money to other Airtel Money users.” “The transaction charges are absolutely free for any values transacted.

We believe the introduction of “Okoa Mapene” will offer that plus one reason for customers to use Airtel Money for the next three months and beyond.” He emphasised that there will be a zero transaction charges applied to any amount sent to Airtel Money recipients, removing that extra cost.
