AP launches urban e-healthcare centre scheme

 The Andhra Pradesh Government will make all efforts to provide quality medicare to the urban poor and to that end it will make use of technology, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has said.

He was speaking here on Wednesday after inaugurating an electronic urban healthcare centre (UHC). State Health Minister K. Srinivas and Sangita Reddy, the Joint Managing Director of Apollo Hospitals, and officials from the state government and Apollo Hospitals participated in the event.

He said, “It has been our mission to provide prompt integrated quality primary healthcare for the urban poor in Andhra Pradesh at their doorstep. With this vision, the Government of Andhra Pradesh is reforming the Public health system by upgrading Urban Health Centres (UHC) into CMUHCs. Through this initiative, we aim to serve 13.2 million people of Andhra Pradesh in three years.” More than 200 such urban health centres will be launched across the state in the next few months.

Apollo Hospitals extended its commitment to rural and remote healthcare by providing services at 164 such CMUHCs across 9 districts in Andhra Pradesh to manage and operate for a period of three years along with the government of Andhra Pradesh. Sangita Reddy said, “It gives us great pleasure to be a part of the Government’s healthcare reform journey through initiatives like CMUHCs.”
