Eradicating Poverty Through Small Business Ventures

GUYANA Small Business Association (GSBA), in collaboration with Guyana Micro-Projects Programme (GMPP), is conducting a series of one-week training courses funded by the European Union (EU).

They are being conducted at the GSBA Secretariat, Lot 160 Waterloo Street, North Cummingsburg, Georgetown, at no cost and interested persons can make contact at the address.

A press release said the sessions between 5 p.m. and 9p.m. are intended to empower the disadvantaged through small and micro enterprises, with the primary objective of eradicating poverty by encouraging the creation and development of such businesses by men and women with limited formal business knowledge.

Each course is designed to provide guidance and assistance for participants in the areas of Basic Management, Marketing & Sales Strategies, Basic Record Keeping, Business Plan Preparation and Government Policies & Export Trade Policies.

The release said, for persons who already have the relevant type of businesses, traceability education is conducted during on site visits which take place between Saturdays and Sundays.

The registered GSBA Credit Union is expected to be launched at the end of the programme and it would afford opportunities for those trained to access funding for their ventures, the statement said.
