Mixed Reactions in Ghana Over Interest Payments on Mobile Money

Customers of mobile money services have expressed mixed reactions to the payments of interests, a day after the process started.
The customers, who are generally happy about the development, however tell Citi Business News the amounts they received are quite insignificant.
“I am not happy and I am expecting more… I think 50 pesewas is not enough,” one customer recounted.
The four telecom operators [MTN, Tigo, Vodafone and Airtel] offering the service, yesterday (September 11, 2016), commenced paying interests for the first quarter on the mobile money wallets of their customers.
It follows the green light from the Bank of Ghana.
