Tuesday, March 15, 2016

Nigeria’s National Biotechnology Development Agency (NABDA) is to partner with Cuba in producing vaccines against killer diseases, Professor Lucy Ogbadu, the Director-General of the agency has revealed. She said on Monday in Abuja that it was disheartening that Nigeria had not been able to produce vaccines against typhoid and other killer diseases.

“We want to go into that because some decades ago Nigeria was producing vaccine, but we have so many things in Nigeria that have
collapsed” she added.

According to her not a single human vaccine is produced in Nigeria despite the production of animal vaccines, a situation which cannot continue.

“So because this falls within our mandate, we have taken it upon ourselves to ensure that Nigeria goes back to vaccine production.
