Press release: Bamboo Capital Partners and Persistent Energy Capital enter strategic partnership to fuel the future of off-grid energy in emerging markets

Monday, November 6, 2017

Bamboo Capital Partners (“Bamboo”), an impact investment private equity firm delivering social and financial value, has entered a strategic partnership with Persistent Energy Capital (“Persistent”), an investor in and builder of start-up and early stage enterprises in the off-grid energy sector in emerging and frontier markets.

The ultimate objective of the partnership is to bring affordable, clean and modern energy to millions of people living beyond the grid.

As part of the agreement, Bamboo will make an investment via its Oasis Fund to Persistent – the details of which are undisclosed. The partnership will allow Persistent to continue developing early stage companies, while Bamboo’s deep experience of investing in later funding stages provides Persistent’s portfolio companies with a source of late stage growth capital.

Both Persistent and Bamboo have established track records in the off-grid energy sector. Persistent’s portfolio companies, which it provides hands-on support and investment to, include: PEG Africa, Oolu, BOS and rensource. Bamboo’s current off-grid portfolio companies include BBOXX and Greenlight Planet.
