Unitus Seed Fund hires Milind Shah as healthcare venture partner

Early-stage impact-focused venture fund Unitus Seed Fund has roped in Milind Shah, the India managing director of global healthcare company Medtronic as its healthcare venture partner. The appointment comes as Unitus Seed Fund is setting aside Rs 100 crore to invest in the healthcare space over the next five years.

Shah will bring in deep understanding of healthcare, relationships with medical technology companies and hospital chains as well as expertise in drafting strategic plans, executing business model innovations and mergers and acquisitions.

“Chronic diseases are responsible for over 50% of deaths in India.Yet, public expenditure on health remains one of the lowest, globally. Startups are making significant inroads by reducing financial barriers and accelerating innovation to make healthcare more accessible and affordable,“ said Milind Shah, healthcare venture partner, Unitus Seed Fund.

Milind will work closely with Unitus’ investee companies to prepare them for growth and follow on funding by providing access to global healthcare practitioners, teachings and operating medical facilities.
