Tuesday, May 12, 2015

Vodafone Albania officially launched the M-Pesa mobile payment service during a press conference held in the capital Tirana. Vodafone Albania is the second Vodafone operator in Europe to offer the service, following Vodafone Romania in April 2014. All Albanian unbanked mobile users are able to use Vodafone Albania’s mobile payment platform. With M-Pesa, they will be able to send money to their friends and family, pay bills and buy airtime anywhere in Albania. Created with an initial investment of more than EUR 3 million, Vodafone Albania’s M-Pesa is based on a system of payments and store of value system accessible through mobile phones. It is mainly aimed at the unbanked and under-banked population.
