Gary M. Cohen is executive vice president and president, Global Health and Development for BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company). He served on the UN Commission on Life Saving Commodities for Women and Children, and presently serves as a board director of the U.S. Fund for UNICEF and the CDC Foundation, and is the founder and board chair of Together for Girls, a public-private partnership to end violence against children, particularly sexual violence against girls.

It’s Not Business as Usual with Women’s and Children’s Health

Because thousands of women and children die of preventable causes each day, the United Nations Commission on Life-Saving Commodities was established in 2012 with the goal of increasing access to and awareness of 13 underused lifesaving commodities. The commission has largely succeeded in its mission, the authors say, due mainly to its collaborative approach.
