Kevin Haywood Keepper is an editor for NextBillion.net. He is also a Development & Communications Coordinator at TechnoServe, Inc. a nonprofit that helps entrepreneurial men and women in poor areas of the developing world build businesses that create income, opportunity and economic growth for their families, their communities and their countries. At TechnoServe, Kevin is working with a small team to build the organization’s nascent knowledge management initiative. He is also strengthening internal communications at TechnoServe and supporting the new business team and fundraising. He first worked with TechnoServe as an intern at their Kenya office in 2007 and has been back to Africa once since then on business in Swaziland.

In addition to the Base of the Pyramid (BoP) and entrepreneurship research Kevin has done with and before TechnoServe, he has produced work on Intellectual Property Rights in China and co-authored a paper on Rural-Urban Migration Experiments in China and India. He holds a B.A. in Government & African Studies from Saint Lawrence University and is an alumni of the Kenya Semester Program and the Washington Semester Program.

    A Call for Innovation and Collaboration

In a recent trip to Swaziland I visited TechnoServe’s cotton program and was struck by the setback incurred when a prominent aid agency interrupted the efforts of this program.

    TechnoServe, Gates and Coke Link Up With Farmers

    The Coca-Cola Company, nonprofit TechnoServe, and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation today launched a partnership to enable over 50,000 small fruit farmers in Uganda and Kenya to increase their productivity and double their incomes by 2014. This partnership will enable fruit farmers to participate in the Company’s supply chain for the first time.
