Laura Burke is a writer and journalist, and currently works as a communications consultant for Innovations for Poverty Action. She previously reported for two years from West Africa for The Associated Press, Radio France Internationale, GlobalPost and other news outlets. Before that, she served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Malawi. A native of Baltimore, she currently lives in New Haven, Conn., with her husband and daughter.
