Virginia Barreiro is the Global Director of the New Ventures Project at the World Resources Institute. In her work on New Ventures, she has helped to grow the initiative from a regional (Latin America) to a global focus that is active in 5 major emerging markets, Brazil, Mexico, China, India and Indonesia. NV supports small and medium enterprises operating in sustainable sectors. The project identifies innovative enterprises with potential for high environmental and social impact and provides them with access to business development services and investment.

Virginia holds a B.A. in Political Science from the University of California in San Diego and an M.A. in Latin American Studies from George Washington University.
