Attention on climate change is divided this year. While searing heat waves in Europe make headlines, global crises such as the Ukraine war and food price hikes are interrupting the momentum necessary to curb carbon emissions. The disconnect between climate effects and attention are similarly reflected in financial commitments: Despite the fact that countries were asked to make more ambitious pledges at last year’s U.N. Climate Change Conference, current funding levels remain insufficient to achieve temperature and clean energy goals.
