Moving On But Staying Close to Home
Dear NextBillion Readers:
Over the past six months, I have had the privilege to work with Rob Katz and Francisco Noguera in managing NextBillion.net in my role at the William Davidson Institute (WDI). Starting today, however, I will have to step down as I am leaving the WDI to join the Center for Entrepreneurship at the University of Michigan (UM).
In my new role, I will be managing UM’s Social Entrepreneurship Initiative. The hope of this initiative is to inspire and equip the next generation of social entrepreneurs to effect change in the world. I will continue to teach two courses: Social Venture Creation and Intro to Social Entrepreneurship. In addition, I will support the curriculum and teaching responsibilities in UM’s Multidisciplinary Design Minor Global Health Design Specialization and various Social E projects that come out of UM. For example, I am currently working on UM’s Safe Male Circumcision Project, which received a Gates Foundation Grand Challenges Explorations grant. Our team is developing the feasibility plan for low-cost, mass production/distribution of the medical devices.
I’m sad to be leaving WDI and my managing editor responsibilities with NextBillion; however, I will be staying on with NextBillion as a staff writer.
I’m super excited for the next step in my career and hope that I can help make Michigan “the leaders and best!“
Go Blue!
P.S. If you are UM alum and want to get involved, email me!
