ABOUT MCE
MCE Social Capital (MCE) is an impact investing firm that provides flexible capital to enterprises committed to generating sustainable livelihoods in emerging markets – with a focus on women and the environment – to allow these enterprises to scale and better serve their customers, their employees, and their communities. Since 2006, MCE has disbursed over $400 million in debt capital to 170 institutions in 55 countries throughout the developing world. MCE currently manages $100 million in assets via two funding models: 1) MCE’s long-time evergreen model and 2) the MCE Empowering Sustainable Agriculture fund, launched in 2023.
MCE invests across two portfolios:
• Financial Service Providers (FSPs) microfinance institutions and other financial service providers that expand access to credit, savings, insurance, and business education, often in rural areas. MCE provides loans up to US$5 million
• Small and Growing Businesses (SGBs) “missing middle” enterprises that create jobs and help smallholder farmers increase productivity and income. Typical loan sizes range from US$500,000 – US$1.5 million.
