About the position
The Finance Assistant will work closely with the Finance Officer and the Finance Manager, supporting the effective management of Intersex Nigeria’s financial systems and operations. The role includes assisting with bookkeeping, financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance with donor and organizational policies. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and committed to transparency, accountability, and ethical financial practices in support of the organization’s mission.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Bookkeeping
Maintain accurate financial records and ensure proper documentation of all transactions.

Record daily expenditures, receipts, and other financial activities in accounting systems.

Prepare payment vouchers and ensure proper authorization before disbursement.

Support monthly bank reconciliations and cash flow tracking.

Budgeting and Financial Reporting
Assist in preparing program and project-specific budgets.

Support budget monitoring to ensure expenses align with approved budgets.

Prepare financial reports for management and donors.

Support audit preparation with necessary financial documentation.

Compliance and Internal Controls
Ensure all financial transactions comply with donor regulations and Intersex Nigeria’s policies.

Maintain a proper filing system for all financial records, receipts, and supporting documents.

Support the implementation of financial control systems to prevent misuse of funds.

Assist in updating finance policies and procedures as required.

Procurement and Administration
Support procurement, inventory processes, and ensure timely payments to vendors and consultants.

Track expenditures related to office operations and project activities.

Assist with logistics and administrative duties related to finance operations.

Coordination and Support
Liaise with program staff to ensure timely financial planning and reporting.

Support staff members and partners in understanding financial procedures and requirements.

Contribute to organizational financial capacity strengthening.

Key Skills and Qualifications
Accounting Expertise: Sound understanding of financial management, accounting principles, and donor reporting.

Software Proficiency: High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (QuickBooks, Sage); Zoho is a plus.

Analytical & Detail Oriented: Strong numerical accuracy, data-entry skills, and analytical abilities.

Ethics & Confidentiality: Integrity, discretion, and ability to handle sensitive financial information.

Organizational Skills: Excellent organizational skills with the ability to meet strict deadlines.

EMPLOYMENT TERMS
Salary: N250,000 per month (Net)

Location: Lagos, Nigeria

Job type: Full-time (Hybrid)

Duration: 12 months (Renewable)
