Description

The Manager I, Communications assists with the facilitation of the World Food Prize Foundation’s social media channels, newsletters, and many other communications projects. In collaboration with the communications team, this individual is expected to manage, write, edit, design and post a wide variety of marketing content across multiple different outlets while preserving the Foundation’s brand and promoting the Foundation’s mission.

In addition, this individual will directly respond to all public inquiries, monitor social media and website analytics and help develop strategic plans for targeted engagement.

Wage: $46,000-$70,000+

Requirements

  • Responsibility to uphold the reputation and identity of the World Food Prize Foundation by maintaining its image online
  • Work closely with the Sr. Director of Strategic Communications and Communications Department on a variety of different tasks, including but not limited to:
    • Creating visual and written materials that align with the Foundation’s brand and editorial style guide
    • Monitoring and analyzing social media performance across Facebook, LinkedIn and Instagram to evaluate the effectiveness of posts and boost user engagement
    • Developing and implementing social media strategies to promote the Foundation’s programs and events
    • Scheduling posts on the Foundation’s social media platforms
    • Writing and designing e-newsletters that align with the Foundation’s language and objectives
    • Utilizing different marketing platforms such as Sprout Social, Meltwater, Constant Contact and Salesforce
  • Think critically and creatively to amplify and share the stories of the World Food Prize Foundation
  • Continuously researching and adopting the latest trends and best practices in social media to enhance the Foundation’s online presence
  • Work closely with the communications team to ensure all materials meet platform-specific requirements across different social media channels
  • Communicate promptly and professionally with the public on inquiries and matters across social media platforms, ensuring all questions and concerns are addressed
  • Maintain the press and media database for newsletters and other emails
  • Keep track of all projects deadlines, progress and collaborators on an organizational database

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor degree required, preferably in the field of communications, public relations, journalism, graphic journalism, graphic design or marketing; 3-5 years experience strongly preferred.
  • Generally 6 – 8 years experience may substitute for educational requirements.
  • Graphic design experience required.
  • Video editing experience is desired.
  • Prior experience working in a non-profit or foundation environment desired.
  • Prior experience working in the food and agriculture sector is desired.
  • Experience working with a wide array of stakeholders including funding donors; local, national & international government officials; agency leaders; scientific & industry related experts and dignitaries.
  • Experience in a guest/customer services function at a cultural attraction or in a corporate environment.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, negotiation and multitasking skills.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure without losing a customer-service oriented attitude.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Office setting, occasional travel.  May be required to lift up to 25 – 50 lbs (generally office supplies or event props). Long periods sitting at a computer screen. May stand for prolonged periods during events. Some bending, stooping may be required. Willing to relocate to Des Moines, IA. This is not a remote position.
