African Leadership Academy (www.AfricanLeadershipAcademy.org) and The MasterCard Foundation (www.MastercardFdn.org) are pleased to announce Heritiaina Randriamananatahina, 22 year old agriculture entrepreneur from Madagascar, as this year’s winner of the $25,000 Grand Prize in the sixth annual edition of Africa’s premier award for youth entrepreneurship. Heritiaina is the founder of Fiombonana, an agro-processing enterprise that manufactures dairy products and confectioneries using only Malagasy raw materials, employing farmers and providing local job opportunities.

Cholera in Haiti: WHO considers using half doses to vaccinate more people
The U.N. agency announced earlier this month that it would send 1 million doses of cholera vaccine to the Caribbean island. More than 200 cases of the deadly disease have been reported since Hurricane Matthew, and the numbers are expected to surge as the rainy season progresses between November and January.
