How the Coronavirus Pandemic Will Affect Venture Capital Dealmaking

By Shantanu Surpure and Christopher Rasmussen

The global spread of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19), the disease caused by a novel coronavirus, has resulted in the World Health Organization declaring it as a pandemic.

Public health and safety are of paramount importance. In addition to impacting global public health, the coronavirus outbreak has substantially impacted the global economy, including the venture capital and technology ecosystem.

Businesses need to adapt and continue both during the current crisis and to prepare for the eventual upturn once the situation improves. This includes raising capital through venture capital funding.
