New Initiative ‘Avanza Café’ Boosts Productivity and Reduces Carbon Emissions in Central America

In a major effort to enhance sustainable coffee production in Central America, coffee- and tea company JDE Peet’s, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Food for Progress Program, and international non-profit TechnoServe have launched a new initiative, Avanza Café. This program funded by a $15.3 million investment, will introduce regenerative agriculture techniques aimed at improving coffee farm productivity in Honduras, Guatemala, El Salvador, and Nicaragua, while also reducing the carbon footprint of coffee production and strengthening climate resilience in coffee-growing communities.
