South Africa’s Unemployment Rises to 8.5 Million as Job Market Weakens

South Africa’s unemployment rate has risen to 33.6% as the number of unemployed people increased to 8.5 million in the second quarter of 2026, highlighting continued pressure on the country’s labour market.
