Evan Michelson

Evan Michelson joined the Rockefeller Foundation in 2008. As an associate director, Michelson is responsible for creating foresight and horizon scanning processes aimed at identifying new ideas and anticipating long-terms trends. In this role, he has overseen a scenario planning exercise on the future of technology and international development, managed a global network of forward-looking researchers, and conducted strategic analysis related to a wide range of emerging themes.


Prior to joining the Rockefeller Foundation, Michelson was a Research Associate for the Project on Emerging Nanotechnologies at the Woodrow Center in Washington, DC, where he conducted nanotechnology policy analysis and co-created the first publicly available inventory of nanotechnology consumer products. He has also worked as a visiting researcher in Korea, a science instructor in South Africa, and a fellow at The National Academies. His has published several peer-reviewed articles and book chapters covering issues related to science and technology policy, globalization, and foresight.


Michelson received a bachelor’s degree from Brown University, master’s degrees from Columbia University and The George Washington University, and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. at New York University.
