Patricia Chin-Sweeney is a Venture Partner at Beyond Capital Ventures. She is Managing Director and Founder of I-DEV International and I-DEV Africa- a strategy and investment advisory firm with over a decade of experience advising leading frontier market startups on capital raise, innovation and growth strategy. I-DEV has advised over 350 startups (as well as many of their partners), and successfully helped companies raise $80M+ in growth capital. In its role as sellside capital raise advisor, I-DEV helped notable enterprises such as Runa Tea, Basecook, Villa Andina, Twiga Foods, Burn Manufacturing, Lafaza, Big Square, Fuzu, RedBird Health and more to secure debt and equity investments.

Patricia brings over 16 years of experience at the intersection of investments, startups and impact ecosystem building. In addition to her work leading many of I-DEV’s consulting and investment engagements, she has been an Entrepreneur-in-Residence 2x at Singularity University, the Silicon Valley think tank focused on exponential innovation to improve the lives of 1billion+ people. She was a lecturer at the Singularity University Ventures Incubator and Stanford University, speaking and mentoring companies to tackle the SDGs and create effective go-to-market and scalable solutions. She is also an Adjunct Professor at Middlebury Institute of International Studies, and leads the Selection Committee for the Jason Spindler Scholars Program. Recently, she served as a Strategy and Investment Advisor to Founders Factory Africa, a Pan-Africa accelerator backed by Standard Bank and focused on scaling 100 tech-enabled startups in the next 5 years.

Prior to founding I-DEV, Patricia worked in investment banking and strategic consulting for the Environmental Financial Consulting Group, a New York investment firm, specializing in Mergers & Acquisitions, and advising the C-suite of the global infrastructure and engineering sector. Patricia holds an MBA in Global Business and Innovation & Social Impact from NYU’s Stern School of Business, and a BA from Barnard College, the Women’s College of Columbia University. She has spoken at industry conferences such as Afrobytes, Sankalp Africa, SOCAP and Devex on unlocking private sector capital, conservation investments and new financing models and the Africa startup ecosystem.
