Digitalisation & Optimisation
Digital technologies have radically transformed society over the past decades. With a dramatic increase in the number of connected devices, data stemming from phones, computers and appliances, distributed renewable energy sources also grow exponentially. The way electricity is produced, distributed and consumed in emerging markets and rural areas is evolving.Digital technologies are now an integral part of sustainable distributed renewable energy (DRE) business models with applications ranging from demand mapping over the optimisation of the integration of renewables in electricity systems and improvements in the reliability of grids to consumer payment models. In emerging markets, new high-quality and modular technologies, remote monitoring, control software and systems, smart meters, AI, as well as platforms for real-time data collection, analysis and visualisation support sustainable energy stakeholders in providing affordable and clean energy access for all.As the demand for clean and renewable energy sources grows, the Alliance for Rural Electrification (ARE) focuses on fostering and promoting innovation and efficiency of its members in the DRE sector. In this regard, ARE is organising the upcoming edition of Innovation for Electrification (I4E) showcase webinar series on the topic of ‘Digitalisation & Optimisation’. ARE members will be showcasing their products and services covering the subject enabling audience to learn more and engage actively.- Tags

Navigating Climate Disruptions: Solar Tracker Technologies for a Resilient Future
In this pv magazine Webinar we will examine the rising incidence of extreme weather events, including hail, thunderstorms, hurricanes and more, and what kind of risks these events pose to solar assets in the field. Webinar partner, solar tracker mount provider PV Hardware, will review its stowing strategy, demonstrating how its products respond to extreme weather events.
Heather Sauder, associate principal at CPP Engineering Consultants, will present how these events have led to a higher Risk Category (RC2), emphasizing the importance of conducting site-specific wind studies to better assess and mitigate risks for solar installations.
Eduardo Chillaron, technical director, and Chowdary Charan, technical office director at PV Hardware will cover the importance of pre-assembly and proper installation for solar trackers, along with key operation and maintenance (O&M) practices to ensure long-term performance, highlighting crucial do’s and don’ts in tracker management.
Attendees will walk away from the webinar with an improved understanding of how PVH approaches hail, wind, and snow stowing events.
pv magazine Webinar content:
• Solar tracking benefits for utility-scale projects
• Extreme weather challenges for utility-scale solar projects
• Latest technology breakthroughs in solar tracking
• Q&AQuestions can be submitted beforehand in the comments window when registering or in the chat during the live webinar. Ryan Kennedy, editor at pv magazine USA, will be the moderator of this webinar.
Registration for this pv magazine Webinar is free of charge.

Transforming Care Economies: Introducing the Global Roadmap for Action to Drive Inclusive Change
Global events have led to an unprecedented demand for care, but care worker shortages and decent work deficits persist. The fragile and inadequate care infrastructure worldwide relies heavily on the paid and unpaid care work of women and girls in all their diversity, work which is often left unrecognized. Over the past several years, numerous initiatives and policies have emerged to catalyze change, reflecting a growing global recognition of the importance of care work as a social investment and public good that drives inclusive and sustainable development. Despite this recognition, extensive policy, data, and other gaps persist.
In response, the Center for Global Development, The Asia Foundation, CIPPEC, Women Deliver, and the International Center for Research on Women developed the Global Roadmap for Action on the Care Economy (GRAC), in support of the Global Alliance for Care. The GRAC provides a strategic framework that maps the global care landscape and its opportunities, highlights existing data and gaps in measurement, supports coordination efforts, and provides insights to inform future advocacy, research, policy action, and financing.
This seminar will introduce the GRAC and its vision in detail and hear from experts from governments, civil society, multilateral organizations, and donors on new research and key initiatives related to the global care economy. Speakers will also share how the GRAC is relevant to their work and discuss how we can work together to implement its recommendations.
