Location: New York, NYOrganization: TED stands for Technology, Entertainment, Design. It started out (in 1984) as a conference bringing together people from those three worlds. Since then its scope has become ever broader.

The annual conference now brings together the world’s most fascinating thinkers and doers, who are challenged to give the talk of their lives (in 18 minutes).

Position: TED is planning a new, expanded fellowship program, and we’re looking for an experienced, global-minded candidate to lead it.

Qualifications: You should have exceptional management skills and a proven track record of starting and running programs at this scale. Experience in education, leadership-training, and event-production all helpful. Curiosity and a broad interest in the world — including science/technology, business, the arts, global development — are also key.

The Director’s responsibilities will include:

  • Designing the fellowship program, including educational and community-building components.
  • Leading global effort to find the right candidates, forging needed partnerships and running outreach campaign as needed.
  • Designing and running the annual selection process for new Fellows.
  • Overseeing the fellowship program, including travel and benefits for individual fellows, communication of goals, management of fellows, creation of online presence and ongoing community tools.

This position reports to TED Curator Chris Anderson. It is a full-time position, based in TED’s (downtown) New York office, though we would conceivably consider other arrangements.
