The official global unemployment rate, compiled by the International Labor Organization (ILO), is around 6 percent—which suggests American workers are worse off than their counterparts worldwide. Way back in 1980, Bill Drayton recognized the power of an idea to change the world. As the founder and CEO of Ashoka-Innovators for the Public, he has led the creation of a global network of 3,000 social entrepreneurs. Ashoka likes to call it the citizen sector - because it believes that when people come together to create positive social change, they become citizens in the fullest sense. On a visit to India, Drayton, who is regarded as the 'Father of social enterpreneurship', spoke with Madhavi Rajadhyaksha on the importance of change-making in today's ecosystem.
