Rachael Kirui

Rachael Kirui is a specialist in impact communications and storytelling for agrifood systems and inclusive development, working across Africa, Asia, and Europe, including projects in six African countries as well as India, Indonesia, and the Netherlands. She brings over six years of experience supporting development and innovation programmes in agriculture, healthcare, and international trade.

Her work has contributed to initiatives funded by the IKEA Foundation, Dutch Postcode Loterij, World Bank, World Food Programme, and JICA, translating complex systems challenges into narratives that inform decision-makers, support market-based solutions, and strengthen partnerships.

Rachael is the Co-Chair of the Communications Working Group of the Agroecology Coalition, a global multi-stakeholder alliance of governments, civil society, farmers’ organisations, and research institutions working to advance agroecology as a pathway for sustainable and equitable food systems. In this role, she represents African perspectives and helps steer communications and narrative strategy across the coalition.

She holds a BA in Communications from Daystar University and a certificate in Strategic Management of Innovation from HEC Paris. She is currently completing an MSc in Communication for Development at the University of Reading, with a focus on food systems and inclusive development. She represents the university as a Fellow in the IFSTAL programme, hosted by the University of Oxford.
