2011Announcing NextBillion Brasil
We are pleased to announce the NextBillion network will expand next week with the addition of NextBillion Brasil, which is set to launch on Jan. 17. Like NextBillion and NextBillion Espanol, the new site will chronicle innovations at the BoP. It will also serve as a hub for discussion, a place to exchange ideas, to find resources, and to network.

2011Previewing Grassroots: Social Profit
I recently spoke with Amrit Pal at Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership who is leading public relations for: Grassroots:Social Profit in India. The event is set for Jan. 15 in Goa, the picturesque home to "a niche breed of small-time entrepreneurs and a student-demography that has remained largely alienated from the entrepreneurial ecosystem."

2010NexThought Monday: The Multiplier Effect of 10,000 Women
By the end of 2010, 3,000 women will have enrolled and/or graduated from the 10,000 Women business management education project globally. The effort has taken root in 22 countries and involved more than 70 academic or nonprofit organizations. Early data shows 70% of graduates are reporting business growth and 50% have hired one or more employees.

2010Movirtu’s Plan for 4 Million ’Cloud Phone’ Users by 2013
Earlier this month, "Cloud Phone" software company Movirtu announced it would be expanding in 2011 with a Series A investment of $5.5 million and plans to roll out some new products soon. CEO Nigel Waller said the financing will keep the firm on track toward reaching its goal of 4 million users by 2013.
