    European Development Days

Organised by the European Commission, the European Development Days (EDD) bring the development community together each year to share ideas and experiences in ways that inspire new partnerships and innovative solutions to the world’s most pressing challenges. The EDD have a participatory programme.

    • High-Level Panels (HLPs) are highly visible segments of the programme and feature high-profile policymakers and speakers for thought-provoking debates.
    • Lab Debates are smaller version of HLPs. They foster debates on the EDD 2022’s topics in an interactive and engaging way.
    • Project/Report Presentations are for organisers to share their latest reports and projects on a topic relevant to the EDD’s main theme.
    • Brainstorming Sessions are interactive, topic-oriented sessions that enable organisers to involve the audience in rolling-up their sleeves and proposing concrete recommendations through facilitated group-problem solving. Brainstorming sessions will only be held onsite.
    • Agora Sessions are an open, multi-purpose area where the EDD community can meet, discuss and listen to new ideas in short, 20-minute sessions held entirely onsite. Agoras are the perfect setting for more informal, highly dynamic discussions.

In the Community Guide  you will find more information about each session type, the milestones and deadlines, and the facilities offered during the event.

Please note that while the EDD 2022 will be a hybrid event, Session Organisers and moderators/facilitators must attend in person onsite. Also, we strongly urge speakers to attend in person onsite.

The EDD venue in Brussels and its session spaces will be accessible to all including people with disabilities.

How to find partners and share ideas

For each EDD 2022 theme, you can join a group of discussion to interact with other participants, share information and build potential partnerships. Register for and access the groups via the following links:

    Carbon Offset

The EDD are a carbon-neutral event. In 2021 the event’s total emission of 208 tons of CO2 was offset with climate actions in Zambia and in Guatemala.

For EDD 2022, session and stand organisers will join the European Commission in offsetting the forum’s footprint by supporting Gold Standard certified projects.

    Sustainability for Ukraine

24-hour web-a-thon on the future of sustainability and fundraiser to help rebuild civil society in Ukraine.

The war in Ukraine comes on top of a deluge of unprecedented global events that threaten to turn back progress on the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and undermine the well-being of people and countries around the world.

In war-affected areas, many NGO offices have been physically destroyed, the existing funding for the majority of organizations is running out, and there is no guarantee that resources will be there in the near future.

The global community has an opportunity to help them continue the important environmental and social work that is a critical part of the transition to a sustainable and equitable world.

Starting on June 21 at 1:00pm BST / 8:00am EST, the global sustainability community is coming together for 24 hours to take stock of the sustainable development agenda and catalyze action to get us back on track for the world we know is possible. This event will raise vital financial support for local NGOs in Ukraine that have been devastated by the war.

The following organizations have committed to leading a session of the web-a-thon and leveraging their networks to mobilize attendance and fundraising: 3BL, Akatu Institute (Brazil), AuctusESG (India), B Lab, BBMG, BSR, Business Fights Poverty, Business Leaders Forum, CBSR (Canada), CSR Europe, CSR Ukraine, ELEVATE, Forum for the Future, GlobeScan, GreenBiz, GRI, Maala (Israel), Net Positive, Rethink Asia, SB Japan,  SB Thailand, Sustainability Connect (Singapore), and WWF.

Learn more about how you can support local NGOs and advance sustainability in Ukraine. There is no set or required amount for donations. Donate any sum you want. If you represent an organization and would like to make a large contribution, please contact us here.
