As we approach a pivotal moment in the industry, focusing on “Energy Systems of the Future – Balancing Africa’s Needs with Global Goals.” aef will bring four interactive discussions covering vital areas such as project developments, technology innovations, cross-sector opportunities, and collaborations.

Barcelona is chosen for aef 2024 due to its vibrant atmosphere and strategic location as the European country closest to Africa. Spain’s government prioritizes Africa politically and strategically, evident in collaborations and agreements focusing on Northern Africa,  actively participating in the AfDB and a $2 billion investment commitment to South Africa’s energy transition.
Barcelona’s allure adds excitement, making it the ideal host city for this significant event.

Join us for Climate + Finance, a Devex event during London Climate Action Week where government leaders, industry pioneers, funders, and philanthropists will crack the code on climate finance to build resilience and achieve a sustainable future.

The problem: Climate change is an existential threat and low- and middle-income countries are bearing the brunt of it. We need smarter, equitable finance solutions, and fast.

The solutions:

● Equity first: How to get more green where it’s needed most? We’ll tackle equitable financing for adaptation and loss and damage.
● Finance innovators: Unveiling innovative tools such as debt-for-climate swaps, climate risk insurance, prizes, and green bonds to de-risk investments in LMICs.
● Powering up clean energy: Can we finance a clean energy revolution that’s affordable for all? We’ll discuss incentives and strategies.
● Healthy planet, healthy people: Exploring financial models to fortify health systems battered by climate change.
● Collective goal on finance: Will COP29 deliver on its new finance goals? We’ll dissect the progress and chart a course for better transparency and collaboration.

Economic abuse or financial abuse of women and girls is a form of domestic abuse. It often occurs in the context of intimate partner violence and involves the control of a partner or ex-partner’s money and finances, as well as the things that money can buy. Financial abuse may also come from other members of the family. This is more relevant in developing/less developed countries. Financial abuse towards women can include exerting control over their income, spending, bank accounts, bills and borrowing. It can also include controlling access to and use of things like technology which allow us to work and stay connected.
