Spotlight On… Operational Management of Off-Grid Energy Hubs

By powering electric appliances for productive uses and charging batteries (e.g., for electric vehicles) off-grid solar PV “energy hubs” can make a meaningful contribution towards electricity access in rural and peri-urban areas.

Planning and implementing such energy hubs require both thorough planning as well as an operational management of all assets to ensure economic viability of the hub. This is especially important in case of an increasing energy demand over time and/or changing productive use cases (e.g., from charging mobile phones or solar lanterns towards charging electric vehicles).

Against this background, Siemens Stiftung together with the university “Technische Hochschule Ingolstadt” is holding a virtual session on operational management of off-grid energy hubs. This virtual session is part of the digital series “Spotlight on…”, which aims to connect different stakeholders from the e-mobility sector and promote data sharing amongst those.

On September 15th 2022, we invite you to learn how you can benefit from state-of-the-art algorithms and mathematical optimization to best-possibly operate an energy hub. Mr. Aminu Bugaje and Dr Mathias Ehrenwirth are going to present an app which was developed within a joint research project between Siemens Stiftung and Technische Hochschule Ingolstadt supported by the German Development Cooperation through GIZ. Join us for an introduction on off-grid energy hubs, presentation of the app and a brief demonstration of a case study, followed by a 30-minute Q&A session. Following the session, the web-app will be made available to the participants.
