Governments in the region could better manage these challenges by addressing key vulnerabilities, particularly fragile fiscal positions. For most South Asian countries, enhancing revenue mobilization is essential to strengthening their fiscal resilience, fighting climate change, and financing the Sustainable Development Goals.

The latest edition of the World Bank’s semi-annual South Asia Development Update examines the region’s revenue collection challenges. This panel discussion will draw on the new report and explore policy options to overcome these obstacles and improve fiscal sustainability.
