Striving for Sustainable Impact: The Role of Entrepreneurship in Closing Myanmar’s Gender Gaps

The Aspen Network of Development Entrepreneurs (ANDE), the Sasakawa Peace Foundation (SPF), Emerging Markets Entrepreneurs (EME), and Support Her Enterprise (SHE) invites you to the launch of Gender Equality in Myanmar (GEM), a new pilot initiative by the Sasakawa Peace Foundation, to explore the role of entrepreneurship to close Myanmar’s Gender Gaps.

Myanmar is an exciting, emerging entrepreneurial ecosystem with an opportunity to make great strides towards gender equality whilst achieving economic prosperity and success.

This interactive online webinar will start with an introduction of a new report by SPF, EME, and SHE, on innovative business models to improve women’s and girl’s livelihood in Myanmar. The first report of its kind, this report explores the challenges and opportunities for women-focused impact-orientated startups and small growing businesses (SGBs) in Myanmar to develop their business while contributing to the closing of gender gaps in a sustainable way.

The session will conclude with a showcase of selected Myanmar-based startups and SGBs that are developing innovative solutions to improve women’s and girl’s livelihoods in Myanmar. This participatory session will enable members of the audience to contribute to the selection of up to three startups to develop innovative solutions to pilot in Myanmar.
