Sustaining Development in Asia by Raising More Domestic Resources

Developing Asia has rebounded from the pandemic crisis, but the recovery remains incomplete.

To aid in the recovery, a new report from the Asian Development Bank (ADB), which will be published ahead of this event, suggests that policymakers could look to mobilizing additional tax revenues to sustain development.

At this event we’ll discuss key strategies for mobilizing tax revenues for development, including a more efficient VAT and better-designed tax incentives, expanding the use of fiscal instruments to address environmental and health priorities while raising revenues, reforms to reduce Asia’s large informal sector and lift revenues, and fundamental tax reforms that are best done in tandem with strengthening tax administration and improving tax morale.

Join us for the launch of the ADB’s new report, Mobilizing Taxes for Development — the theme of this year’s Asian Development Outlook, followed by a discussion with a distinguished panel.
