The Power of Platforms to Advance the SDGs

Platforms are doing more than just creating gig work in Africa. They’re also accelerating access to energy, clean water, global markets for online sellers, and the type of credit micro and small businesses need to grow. Join BFA, Quartz Africa and insight2impact (i2i) on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum Africa to hear from fintech entrepreneurs and others on the ground, about how platforms are being used to improve lives.

FIBR, a project of BFA in partnership with Mastercard Foundation launched in 2016 to learn how to transform the informal economy in Africa into data for businesses to increase access to financial services in last-mile communities. As the FIBR program comes to an end, it seeks to highlight insights about platforms and their contribution to increasing access and value for excluded consumers — which are critical to achieve the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 1, 6, 7, 8, and 17.

This event is especially targeted at sharing program insights with global donors and platform players focused on inclusion and impact in Africa.
